The cottage was an amazing stay while in Acadia for the first time. The view from the balcony was enough to ensure we stayed at the right place. The hosts were extremely accommodating and friendly including fresh lobster right off the boat. The pellet grill was a great addition that made sure we enjoyed the outdoors most of our time there. Gladly look forward to staying again.

Only been at Hillside Cottage for 24 hours and ready to book again! Amazing view, easy access to the Sound, short drive to Cadillac Mtn and getting fresh lobsters from the dock soon for Labor Day dinner! Looking forward to meeting the owners who shared this wonderful peaceful refuge!

We think this was our 11th year staying at Chamber’s Cottages. We changed our time (September / Spring) over the years. We’re going from 4 weeks to 2 weeks because we are relocating to the area year-round so we’ll back off to just 2 weeks because we are less than an hour away. Yes, less than an hour away and we can’t wait to return. A woman used to rent our cottage for the whole Summer. Yes, it’s that good. If you need 5 star NY service maybe this is not the place for you. We love it. The well water is fantastic, The owners couldn’t be better. I remember a guy writing in “the book” about his cottage week as his, “New Year”. I know exactly wat he meant. I would encourage any visitors to walk up the carriage road in Acadia National Park and look back across Somme’s Sound to see where you are staying. The younger generation operators are clearly doing a great job. The picture is a 4:30 sunrise in the Spring.

This place is a hidden gem. It will not disappoint. The location was perfect, centrally located on the island and easily within a 25 minute drive to anywhere on the island. We stayed in Hillside Cottage which was an easy 2 minute walk to the water. Paul caught us fresh lobster right from the dock! He was so nice and answered all of our questions. A great, and generous host. It really made our stay that much better. We will be returning. The view from our cottage overlooked Somes Sound. The view was spectacular. And the area was quiet and secluded. There are 3 docks on the sound you can access from the cottage. Perfect for swimming and sunsets. I cannot recommend this place enough. I’m hesitant to even leave a review because I don’t want this place to get overbooked. It did not disappoint.

We were lucky enough to stay in the Crow’s Nest Cottage this week and we love it so much we wish we could stay longer! Wonderful, cozy, lovely, clean, well appointed cottage with the best view. We could drink coffee on the porch and look at the water all day. But we also hiked, went kayaking, visited the wonderful towns – just the best vacation with a perfect place to end our day at this cottage. Highly recommend!

We stayed in Hillside Cottage at the end of May and it could not have been more perfect! The cottage was extremely clean, equipped with everything you need for a short or long stay. And above all, the panoramic view over Somes Sound was absolutely breathtaking. The location is perfectly placed to explore both sides of Mt Desert Island and all that Acadia has to offer — but it is likely you will want to spend extra time at the cottage lounging on the deck and enjoying that view. There are a few other cottages nearby but all spaced well enough that we could not see any others, and it was completely quiet and peaceful. We definitely hope to come back. This is Acadia’s hidden gem!

We had a wonderful time at Chambers Cottages. The Seabreeze cottage was clean, provided everything including washer and dryer, and perfect . The view of the sound, the fresh lobsters from Paul, the myriad of ocean and mountain trails; all want us coming back for more.

I’ve been coming here with friends and family for 30 years. It’s my most special place of anywhere I’ve traveled. Don and Marilyn Chambers have passed the torch to their grandson Paul and his wife Ashlee. The same high quality of care has not faltered one bit. This place is heaven on earth. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🦩

Thank you for a perfect week in Sounderosa Cottage overlooking Somes Sound…our cottage in the woods was cozy and comfortable with all the amenities we needed, especially the view! We especially enjoyed the ability to purchase the fresh lobster catch and creating a fantastic meal overlooking the soft sunset waters at days end, the sounds of the loons,  eagles, trees just on the edge of turning… ..beautiful! Thank you for such a peaceful place … a time we hope to enjoy again!

We stayed in Hillside Cottage the last week of June and that view is EVERYTHING. Completely fabulous- you could just stay at the house and look at the view all day. What a gift. You can even see Southwest harbor from the deck/windows. We used both heat and AC- as the weather was just that variable…so happy to have access to both. The beds were very comfortable, and it was very quiet. About 20 minutes away from Acadia, and we were visited frequently by the resident deer- including two newborns. The dock was fun to walk to, for a different view. The water was waaaay too cold to swim in, but we tried! Got our toes in. That’s it. The driveway was a bit rough/ bumpy- even at 5 mph, but with a view like that- who cares?

We were immediately impressed with the location and the amenities here at Chambers Oceanfront Cottages! The location is pristine and the views stunning! The cottage is quiet, very well maintained, and had all of the amenities needed for our family to enjoy a peaceful vacation in and around Acadia and Mt. Desert Island. We will be looking forward to returning here again and again!

Our friend had stayed here many times and has “sold it” to many others. It is a quintessential Mount Desert Island experience on Somes Sound with a long tradition of history and devoted returnees at a very reasonable cost. We stayed at Rock Point, one of several of the properties, this one very close to the water with a private mooring dock. The surrounding property is wooded, rocky outcrops decked with ancient Birch trees and deciduous pine trees. The living area is glass-enclosed with views from within. The bedrooms are kind of dark and tight, — the loft area is crampy, but fine for kids. The walls are thin — you can hear everyone moving about at night, but the beds and bath, clean with well-supplied linens and towels make for a good night’s sleep and showering. W/D, all other appliances and kitchenware including popcorn maker, blender, stock pots, service for 10+ , dish towels, every utensil you would need. Amazing fireplace with provided wood, homey seating, exceptional views of the sound and wildlife. We saw seal and eagles and loons and chipmunks (and a beautiful skunk checking us out late at night through the glass). The fog in the morning is mesmerizing. The colors over the mountains change by the second with an uncapturable palette of nature and sky. Incredibly well-stocked right down to a paper-clip if needed. Books, games, puzzles, and journals of memories past; brochures for anything you want to do. Others with decades of devotion to this camp have contributed to the comfort of these cottages. Intriguing art and decor, well-seated deck, grill, TV, AC and separate heat in rooms; great kitchen with everything you need including many non-perishables. Ashlee and Paul — the leagcy owners/ managers — are always on hand for questions or needs, making your stay seaamless and uncomlictaed — and have the freshest lobster right out of the water at an unbeatable price. The rest of your adventure through Acadia is up to you, but this is a great crash point after hikes and trips to Bar Harbor or the other neighboring towns. Total winner for an affordable Maine experience.

If you love waking up to nature, enjoy your morning coffee with the deer, this place is for you! My wife and I spent a week in the Soundarosa cottage, and we loved it. Close to beaches, restaurants, shops and views, this place has it all! Can’t wait to get back next year. Oh yeah, extremely clean cottages and super fantastic hosts.

This property was very clean, well kept, and as private as it was beautiful! I recommend this stay to anybody looking for a taste of the Maine coast, and of course, the lobsters! Fresh off the dock three times a week, can’t find them anymore fresh. A big thank you for the owners, well be back!!

Just about to complete two weeks here in their Sounderosa cottage. Well equipped for two couples or a family. We were joined by a different couple for each of the weeks and everyone was impressed and pleased. Great views of the Sound, stars and meteors at night, and convenient to everything local. Paul is generous with his time, taking us out on his lobster boat twice to learn about/observe lobster fishing and then selling us lobster at an on-the-dock price.

The Hillside property we stayed at was great for our 4-person young family, we even could have hosted another family member or two comfortably and did host another 6 people for an early dinner. All the right kitchen utensils and quality non-stick pans, make sure to not use metal on them! The fireplace during our late April stay was used quite a lot for ambience and a little direct warmth, having a nice fire going with subtle lighting above while unwinding with some games after a day hiking and exploring was the icing on the cake of this trip. The satellite TV has some good music channel selection and always a movie on for most age groups. The view from behind double slider doors is great if it’s too cold outside, but out on the expansive deck was where I spent some nice mornings and late afternoon quiet time. You can really take in all the atmosphere of Somes Sound, the only fjard on the east coast of North America, and the adjacent mountain peaks of Acadia National Park. The upstairs bedroom has low head room, so best for the littler kids and you have to stay very aware of the ceiling or you’ll regret it! The downstairs bedrooms were comfortably sized with soft cozy beds, good closet space for hanging jackets and sufficient dresser space. The owner Paul was very responsive to inquiries and anything we may have needed, getting lobster right at the dock was a treat for the kids and Paul provided a brief lesson and talk about lobster, the quarry area around us, history of the buildings and answered other questions they had.We packed a lot into a week, I highly recommend making an appointment with the Granite Museum where Stephen Haynes can give a great presentation about how the environment you’re staying in was formed millions of years ago and the history of the granite industry that was here. Then when you return to your cottage try to imagine the roads, rocks and area you are staying in used to be a bustling quarry. Also the Acadia Mountain trail, Jordan Pond loop trail with a detour up to Bubble Rock if you’re up for a scramble, walking to Bar island at low tide for a view into Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mountain for sunset at Blue Hill overlook. Of course a day in town and lobster dinner is also necessary. We did a lot more, but those were highlights for sure.
